We are delighted to announce the Call for Papers for the upcoming Second International Workshop on Fake News Detection in Low-Resource Languages (Regional-FAKE) on December 7 and 8, 2023 conducted as a part of Second International Conference on Speech & Language Technology for Low-resource Languages (SPELLL 2023), scheduled to be held on 06-08 December 2023 at Kongu Engineering College, Erode, Tamil Nadu, India.

The previous first edition, RegionalFAKE 2022 was held at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai, India during 24 November, 2022. WORKSHOP THEME

To identify the fake news from the multimodal data in low resource languages (LRL).

CALL FOR PAPERS

INCLUDING TOPIC OF INTEREST
  • We invite researchers and practitioners to submit papers reporting on fake news detection and datasets to avoid the issues in fake news detection.
  • We also encourage qualitative studies related to the issues and how to avoid them
  • Regional-FAKE 2023 welcomes theoretical and practical paper submissions on any low-resource languages that contribute to research in identifying trust, fakeness and reliability
  • We particularly encourage studies that address either practical application or improving resources
  • This workshop provides opportunities for researchers from the low-resource language community from around the world to collaborate with other researchers.
We invite submissions of original, unpublished technical papers on topics that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Corpus creation for fake news in different domains in low resource languages
  2. Classification of fake news
  3. Development of SOTA and LLM models for detecting fake news
  4. Development of cross-lingual and cross-domain models to detect fake news
  5. Influence of Social and psychological factors in fake news generation
  6. Analyze the impact of fake news
  7. Utilization of abundant information spread through fake news to identify event’s history and timeline
  8. Measurement of influence of fake news and its consequences on the public
  9. Early detection of fake news
  10. Fake news detection from multi-modal data (text, image, audio, video)

PUBLICATION

Workshop will be held at the following conference venue:

SPELLL 2023 (Second International Conference on Speech and Language Technologies for Low-Resource Languages) will be held in Tamil Nadu, India from December 06-08, 2023 and the workshops will be held on December 07-08, 2023. The workshop accepts regular and short papers.

  • All Accepted papers that are presented at the conference will be published in the Springer series: Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) - Scopus Indexed.
  • Volumes published will be indexed in the Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) - part of Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science, EI Engineering Index, ACM Digital Library, DBLP, Google Scholar, and Scopus.

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors must follow the Springer LNCS formatting instructions.

For camera-ready papers use Latex or Word style provided on the authors' page for the preparation of papers.

To uniquely characterize fake news on social media/news articles and analyze the velocity of the fake news.
